Tribals refuse to give up land for new township

"Article 13 (III) and Article 19 (V) of the Constitution will be violated if the government makes a bid to forcefully acquire the scheduled land," Parikhit Murmu, a member of the delegation and traditional village head of Nutandih , said.The convenor of MMP, Durga Charan Murmu , said, expansion of the township will also be impinging on the rights given to the ST community under the Land Revenue rules of 1921 and 1972. Villages on the foothills of Dalma such as Kapali, Dobo, Tamolia, Betakocha, Turiabera, Pokhari, Harhargutu, Kadamdih and Simildanga are part of the 36 villages that will cease to remain as schedule area if the Greater Jamshedpur plan comes into existence, they said.When approached, a middle rung official in the land revenue department said the Greater Jamshedpur plan has been mooted by the state government but it is at a nascent stage now.
