JAMSHEDPUR :A Jamshedpur court has given a woman, Priya Rani, the interim custody of her two children after their father Binod Kumar, a resident of Dhanbad, tweeted to chief minister Raghubar Das on November 2 saying they had been missing since 2010. Binod, who is 40 and works in Oman, claimed that his estranged wife Priya and their twins — Anamika and Alok, both nine — had returned to India in 2010, but had gone missing immediately after landing in New Delhi. He said he feared that they had been abducted. In his tweet, Binod said he had searched for the trio for seven years and it was only after he was sure that they were in Jharkhand that he sought the chief minister's help. After receiving the tweet, Das asked police to look into the matter. After an investigation, they found that the woman and her children were living with a man called Md. Sadiq in Mango. Police informed Binod and he arrived at the town on Sunday evening to lodge an FIR against both Priya and Sadiq. In the complaint lodged with Mango Police, he accused his wife of cheating and polyandry."Priya and her new husband forcibly converted my children's religion who were in their custody," Binod said in his written complaint. Mango Police acted on the complaint, arrested Sadiq and forwarded him to judicial custody. Through his counsel Jai Prakash , Binod also sought custody of the children in the court of the additional district judge, M M Pradhan. Meanwhile, Priya, who now goes by the name Shahnaz Aashiq, has also written to the chief minister seeking custody of the children. In the letter, she said Binod's family would repeatedly harass her and this forced her to leave Oman. She had been living with Sadiq ever since, she told the chief minister. Meanwhile, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) said it would give a representation to the senior superintendent of police, Anoop T Mathew, on Tuesday demanding action against police for their lackadaisical approach in dealing with the matter. "The point relating to the conversion of the children is not mentioned in the FIR," VHP district president Arun Singh said. Lawyer Sujit Sahoo, who is assisting Binod's counsel on behalf of the VHP, said they were considering the option of approaching a higher court to seek custody of the children
