XLRI fest of fun, frolic and learning kicks off

JAMSHEDPUR: The annual cultural and sports festival of the XLRI Ensemble -Valhalla , began here on Thursday.Former Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) chairman M Damodaran inaugurated the four-day extravaganza at the XLRI campus. Damodaran interacted with the students on various facets of management, business and the real-world problems that needs addressing at the Idea Summit.The first day of the fest saw Bharatanatyam performances by students from various colleges. Students of the institute as well as the participants and visitors from outside thronged the food stalls put up at the campus and interacted with each other at the Chill Zone.The students of the host college, who believe amalgamation means coming together of the best aspects of the Bschool life, named the theme of this year's fest as 'Melange of Ideas'.The festival, with a range of events from its flagship 'The Next Gen Leader' to various functional flagships sponsored by leading organisations aimed at testing the leadership, management and analytical skills of the participants, brings in contingents from across the country as they take part in events such as dance, drama, battle of bands and debate along with various sporting and gaming events.From Indian Jam Project to Biswa Kalyan Rath's standup comedy on Friday and traditional band night on Saturday, followed by the performance of composer duo Sachin-Jigar on the closing day, the current edition of Valhallah is all set to rock.
