DUMKA: Chief minister Raghubar Das on Monday ordered the transfer of Godda superintendent of police (SP) Hari Lal Chauhan after local BJP MLA Amit Mandal complained to him about the police allegedly misbehaving with him and breach of privilege. Dumka SP Mayur Patel will take additional charge of Godda until a new SP is posted there.A notification to this affect was issued by the state government on Monday, a day after Mandal was interrogated by the Godda police for two hours in connection with a case filed at the town police station over Mandal allegedly writing derogatory posts against Godda MP Nishikant Dubey on social media sites.Das also ordered chief secretary Rajbala Verma to investigate the matter. The probe will be conducted by the home secretary, who has been to submit a report on charges levelled by Mandal against the Godda police within a fortnight. The move is being viewed in the backdrop of a rumour that Mandal might submit his resignation from the membership of the assembly if immediate action is not taken by the state government. "Mandal has resolved to take every possible step, to the extent of resigning from the assembly membership, if suitable action is not taken against the of Godda police for its high-handedness," one of the close aides of the BJP MLA said on Monday, adding that he was camping in the state capital to register his grievances with the CM and the speaker of the assembly. The political temperature in Godda shot up following allegations against the police by none other than an MLA in the ruling BJP government and seconded by the opposition."The governance in the state is virtually being handed over to the bureaucracy and the police, which has no regard even for a public representative, leave alone the common man," JVM -P MLA from Poraiyahat (Godda) Pradeep Yadav said. Yadav, who is out on bail in connection with the anti-Adani power plant movement in Godda, has been heaping allegations against the Godda police for a long time.Dubey, meanwhile, said he had family-like relationship with Mandal and he did not have any say in the ongoing police investigation. "There is no question of any difference between us," Dubey said over phone from New Delhi. He added that some vested interest groups were behind the attempt to make the matter a political issue.
