JODHPUR: A 26-year-old man was arrested from Jodhpur on Saturday for allegedly killing his four-year-old daughter to appease god through a ‘sacrificial offering’ during Ramzan. The child was found with her throat slit early on Friday.The accused Nawab Ali Qureshi admitted his crime during interrogation, claiming that he wanted to please God by ‘sacrificing’ his beloved daughter Rizwana, cops said. On Thursday afternoon , Qureshi — a resident of Silawaton Ka Mohalla — took Rizwana to the market, bought her lots of goodies, and told her he loved her very much. “At night, while the family slept on the terrace, he took Rizwana to a room on the ground floor, recited holy verses & slit her throat. Then he went back to sleep,” said SP (Jodhpur Rural) Rajan Dushyant.“Around 5am, Qureshi’s wife woke up to find Rizwana missing. She searched the house and found her daughter lying dead in the ground floor room. The child was rushed to the hospital which declared her brought dead,” Dushyant said.“Qureshi, who runs a meat shop, initially tried to convince his kin that a cat may have killed Rizwana, but his wife filed a murder complaint against an unidentified person,” the SP said. After preliminary investigation, cops found that the house was latched from inside and there were no signs of an intruder entering it. Forensic experts and a dog squad were also summoned to examine the spot and Qureshi was summoned for questioning. He confessed to his crime during interrogation.
