Why majority of people unrelated to the tests be denied internet services for two days? Taking preventive measures to curb a menace or a crime is doable but curtailing a common man’s rights for it is like trying to cover up own ineptitude. Why majority of people unrelated to the tests be denied internet services for two days? Doctors, businessmen and others might need net for urgent matters. It would have been better if the authorities had rather concentrated on hiring test invigilators who could remain alert. JAIPUR: Not many exams warrant the water-tight security arrangements that the police constable exams would witness on Saturday and Sunday in which about 14 lakh candidates at 664 centres across the state are expected to appear for 13,142 posts.Once bitten twice shy, the police department has walked the extra mile to conduct a "cheating-free" recruitment process even though it means inconvenience to people in several parts of the state.Mobile internet services will be affected at many cities including in Jaipur as the department tries to to keep cheating mafias away.Jaipur divisional commissioner T Ravikanth told TOI that mobile internet services will be suspended at examinations centres from 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday.Jaipur has 209 exam centres. Bloking mobile internet services in these centres would mean a total outage in the entire city.Instructions about the exam pasted on the wall of a centreThe police have so far arrested over two dozen suspects alleged to have duped candidates on pretext of offering them guaranteed selections in the final list.Gangs have been busted in Jodhpur, Sikar, Alwar , Bharatpur, Jaipur and Bikaner. DGP O P Galhotra said that none of these gangs were in possession of any exam-related material as they simply cheated students to make a quick buck.Additional DGP (hadquarters) said that strict monitoring of all examination centres will be conducted.He said that special dress code has been issued and advised students not fall prey to gangs luring them on pretext of offering help in selection.The Rajasthan police was left red faced in March this year when the recruitment examinations had to be cancelled after Special Operations Group (SOG) busted gangs involved in facilitating cheating at several examination centres by remotely hacking into computers. The police took a slew of measures for the revised examination to fill up the posts.
