Doctor held for taking bribe in Jodhpur

JODHPUR: ACB on Tuesday caught in-charge of a Community Health Centre (CHC) of Lohawat while accepting a bribe of Rs. 12,500 in Lohawat subdivision of Jodhpur. He had demanded the money against clearance of bills of the supplier of tea, biscuits and breakfast to the pregnant women under state government’s Kaleva Yojna.SP (ACB) Vishnu Kant said that one Pappu Devi had complained to the ACB on Monday that she had supplied tea, biscuits and breakfast to the pregnant women admitted in the CHC of Lohawat.“She complained that a bill worth Rs 85,000 was outstanding and in-charge of the CHC, Dr Pradeep Bishnoi had been demanding 25% of this amount before clearing the bills,” the official said.“We verified the complaint and during verification, Bishnoi agreed to issue a cheque of Rs 50,000 on Tuesday against a bribe of Rs 12,500 at the rate of 25%,” said the official adding that the doctor called the complainant to his residence with the money on Tuesday and collected the cheque.On this verification, the ACB sleuths laid a trap at the residence of the doctor and the moment he accepted the money, they caught him red-handed and recovered the money from him.“We have arrested the doctor and have initiated an investigation against him,” Kant said.
