Labs of SN Med College get NABL accreditation

JODHPUR: Pathology laboratories of S N Medical College, Jodhpur, has received NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratory) accreditation with ISO standards. These labs have become first in the state to get NABL accreditation. This certification will render enhanced authenticity of reports of this laboratory.HoD (pathology department) A R kalla said that the pathology laboratories each at the medical college, MDM Hospital, MG Hospital and Ummed Hospital have been granted this certificate in pursuance of the international standards in accordance with the ISO 15189:2012.“With this accreditation, trust and authenticity of the test reports from all four laboratories would enhance among the patients and the doctors and the patients would be able to take the maximum advantage of these laboratories,” said Kalla.Principal of S N Medical College, S S Rathore said that the department and the medical college administration have strived hard for two years to obtain this highly coveted accreditation.“We have been granted this certification for two years, after which it will be required to be obtained afresh. After 10 months, the team of the NABL will pay an on-site surveillance visit of laboratories to verify, whether all the parameters are being adhered to or not,” said Rathore.For this, the team of NABL screened and tested the procedures of laboratories and the equipments in different phases and after getting assured that all the parameters have been met, the accreditation was granted, which will be valid till September 10, 2020.Rathore added that the medical college administration has moving forward in the direction of providing reports of all the tests on-line to the patients and reports of the most of the tests have been already digitalized.“We have started to provide reports of 80% of the total tests on-line with a view to put an end to long wait for obtaining the reports in physical form and remaining 20% tests will also be put on-line very soon”, Singh said.
