Deaf & mute boy sodomised in hostel, warden booked

JODHPUR: An 8-year-old and deaf and mute inmate of a private hostel was allegedly sodomised by the hostel warden in Jodhpur. “On Tuesday night, the victim came to us with a teacher and informed us about the incident. The minor boy remained silent all this while, until he informed about the incident to a teacher of his school.“We carried out spot verification and got the medical examination of the boy done. On the basis of the description of the incident by the victim, with the help of the teacher, we have registered the case,” said Sankhla. Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot is the chief patron of the school.

JODHPUR: An 8-year-old and deaf and mute inmate of a private hostel was allegedly sodomised by the hostel warden in Jodhpur. The victim described the incident to a teacher of the school in sign language, who informed the police, and a case whas been registered against the warden under the POCSO Act The warden, identified as Ramesh Kumar , however, went on leave after the alleged incident, which had taken place on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday (September 13 and 14).SHO (Mandore), Anand Kumar Sankhla, said that the investigation has been initiated and the medical examination of the boy has been administered on Wednesday, the report of which is awaited.According to him, the minor boy had taken admission in the Gandhi Badhir Senior Secondary School — a private un-aided, co-educational institution at Mata ka Than area under Mandore police station — about a month ago and had been living in the hostel since. “On Tuesday night, the victim came to us with a teacher and informed us about the incident. On the basis of the description of the incident by the victim, with the help of the teacher, we have registered the case,” said Sankhla. The minor boy remained silent all this while, until he informed about the incident to a teacher of his school.“We carried out spot verification and got the medical examination of the boy done. Report of the medical examination is yet to be obtained,” Sankhla said.Meanwhile, police tried to contact the warden Ramesh, but he was neither present at his given address nor could be contacted over the phone.On the other hand, taking a serious note of the incident, the district legal service authority has proceeded to provide compensation to the victim and have sent a team to the police for the details.Run by a private trust, the school and the two hostels, one each for boys and girls, had been commissioned in 1982 on the Gandhi Jayanti . Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot is the chief patron of the school.
