Man who was hurt in communal clash in Lathi succumbs

Due to increasing tension and rumours, the district administration has suspended internet services for 48 hours in Pokhran sub division.On December 7, a clash took place between two groups in which shops were set on fire, stones were pelted and vehicles damaged. Jodhpur range IG Sanjeev Narjari, district collector Om Kasera, SP Jagdish Chandra Sharma and other officers were trying to persuade the people. Pokhran’s former MLA Shaitan Singh and others sat on a dharna outside the SDM office demanding arrest of murderers, compensation to the deceased and job to the dependents, etc.Entire Pokhran has turned into a cantonment. They have demanded to arrest the murderers of Jugtaram under Section 302, give government job to one of the family members and compensation of Rs 25 lakh. Police has beefed up security and deployed additional police force which carried out flag march at all the three places.People started protesting outside the SDM office over Suthar’s death with several BJP leaders also joining in.

JAISALMER: Jugtaram Suthar, who was seriously injured in a communal clash between two groups in Lathi on December 7 after the voting, died on Wednesday night in Jodhpur while undergoing treatment.The death created tension in the entire Pokhran sub division and markets in Pokhran, Chandan and nearby areas remained closed while in Lathi, the market remained closed for the seventh day on Thursday.After the post-mortem on Thursday evening, the body reached Pokhran and people placed the body outside the SDM office and started demonstrating. Pokhran’s former MLA Shaitan Singh and others sat on a dharna outside the SDM office demanding arrest of murderers, compensation to the deceased and job to the dependents, etc.Entire Pokhran has turned into a cantonment. Jodhpur range IG Sanjeev Narjari, district collector Om Kasera, SP Jagdish Chandra Sharma and other officers were trying to persuade the people. In the incident, Jugtaram Suthar (60), was seriously injured and was referred to Jodhpur where he died late on Wednesday night while undergoing treatment.On Thursday, the news of Suthar’s death spread like wildfire in Pokhran sub division. Following this, markets in Pokhran and Chandan was shut. Police has beefed up security and deployed additional police force which carried out flag march at all the three places.People started protesting outside the SDM office over Suthar’s death with several BJP leaders also joining in. In a memorandum submitted to the administration it was stated that community members attacked Jugtaram and he died yesterday night.In the December 7 incident, the local SHO and police personnel at Lathi police station did not take any action and attitude of SDM was also very irresponsible. They have demanded to arrest the murderers of Jugtaram under Section 302, give government job to one of the family members and compensation of Rs 25 lakh.
