HC stays appointment of grade-III teachers

  • | Wednesday | 13th February, 2019

Jodhpur: The grade-III teachers, all set to have their postings anytime soon, were in for a rude shock when the high court stayed their appointment on Wednesday. Education minister for the state Govind Singh Dotasara also had assured these candidates of appointment in just three days and had given the required directions to the officials. But after this fresh stay, interim however, the candidates who were all set to receive their appointment letters in 2-3 days, have been left in lurch. With an interim stay on the appointments of the successful candidates, a division bench of the high court has sought reply from the government regarding appointment in Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) areas.Petitioner Manish Kumar Nagda stated in his petition, that the government was not extending the TSP benefits to the candidates belonging from the new TSP areas in Pratapgarh, Udaipur and Sirohi, which had been declared as TSP areas through a gazette notification in May 2018.Counsel for the petitioner, V S Rajpurohit argued that the government has been extending the benefits of TSP areas to the candidates in all the recruitments, but not the candidates of these newly declared TSP areas, who are being deprived of the TSP benefits in the appointment of the III-grade teachers for TSP and non-TSP area candidates, in spite of the directions of the high court. While hearing the arguments, the division bench comprising justice Sangeet Lodha and justice Dinesh Mehta stayed the appointment of the teachers and sought a detailed report from the state government on the next hearing. It may be noted that after the high court vacated the stay on the appointment of 26,000 III-grade teachers on February 8, the state government had initiated the process of their appointment.
