CRPF training centre in Jodhpur inaugurated

JODHPUR: Newly constructed Central Reserve Police Force CRPF ) training centre in Jodhpur was inaugurated by Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday. Adequate rail connectivity of Jodhpur with different corners of the country has also been instrumental in establishment of this centre in Jodhpur. The centre has however, been functioning in its temporary facility in Suratgarh since September 2014, where so far 5,439 recruits have completed training. According to an official, the building has been handed over to CRPF and soon the training facility will be shifted to this campus from Suratgarh. By this account, we would be training 1,620 recruits per year,” said an official adding that the centre also has family quarters to accommodate the families of the recruits.

He inaugurated the building from New Delhi through a remote device and dedicated the centre to the nation.Built over a land parcel of 175 acres, the first in the state centre will be rolling out about 1,600 new recruits of CRPF ever year who will thereafter, be deployed in different areas of the country.The land had been sanctioned for the centre at village Paladi Khinchiyan in 2011 by the state government to the ministry of home affairs and a budget of Rs 73 crore had been sanctioned for its construction in two parts in 2015 and 2016. According to officials, these recruits will be roped in to deal with Maoism, naxalism and terrorism in the turbulent areas as well as ensuring internal security from communal forces. The centre has however, been functioning in its temporary facility in Suratgarh since September 2014, where so far 5,439 recruits have completed training. Of these, 3,103 are from CRPF, 572 from UP and Goa police and rest 1,764 have been in service trainees. According to an official, the building has been handed over to CRPF and soon the training facility will be shifted to this campus from Suratgarh. Proposal for this centre had been sent to the ministry of home affairs in October 2011 and passing through all the procedural formalities, the construction finally began here in 2016.“We have here four barracks to accommodate 405 trainees in each barrack. By this account, we would be training 1,620 recruits per year,” said an official adding that the centre also has family quarters to accommodate the families of the recruits.
