Rajasthan sarpanch body demands apology from MLA

JAIPUR/JODHPUR: Rajasthan Sarpanch Sangh has demanded an apology from Congress MLA Divya Maderna for misbehaving with a woman sarpanch at a public function in Jodhpur. The Rajasthan Sarpanch Sangh has demanded apology from the Cong MLA.Bhanwarlal Janu, state president of Rajasthan Sarpanch Sangh while condemning the incident said "Divya Maderna should apologise for her misbehaviour with lady sarpanch or she be prepared to face the ire of sarpanches across the state. "Sarpanch Chandu Devi while talking to TOI said she was hurt by the conduct of the MLA. "Incidentally the function was organized to facilitate the local MLA for her victory in the recent assembly elections. After the incident Chandu Devi had not ventured out of her home due to humiliation.

A video clip has gone viral in which Congress MLA from Osian (Jodhpur) Divya Maderna can be seen gesturing the local Sarpanch, Chandu Devi, to sit on the floor with the public when she comes to the dais to take a chair beside Maderna at a function in Jodhpur on Sunday.Chandu Devi, sarpanch of Khetasar village sat on the floor as a commoner without any resistance but the incident has evoked strong reactions on social media. The Rajasthan Sarpanch Sangh has demanded apology from the Cong MLA.Bhanwarlal Janu, state president of Rajasthan Sarpanch Sangh while condemning the incident said "Divya Maderna should apologise for her misbehaviour with lady sarpanch or she be prepared to face the ire of sarpanches across the state."Incidentally the function was organized to facilitate the local MLA for her victory in the recent assembly elections. Divya is the daughter of former minister Mahipal Maderna who is an accused in the murder of Bhanwari Devi and the granddaughter of veteran Congress Leader Paras Ram Maderna.Divya Maderna said she was not aware the woman was a sarpanch. After being trolled on social media Divya while talking to TOI over phone said "the woman was wearing gunghat (veil) so I could not recognize her. She did not introduce herself to me either. I thought that she was one of the villagers who approached me with some grievance."Sarpanch Chandu Devi while talking to TOI said she was hurt by the conduct of the MLA. After the incident Chandu Devi had not ventured out of her home due to humiliation.
