Army captain arrested for molesting lady professor in Kanpur

"The lady professor immediately dialled police control room number and sought police help following which local police was briefed about the incident and instructed to rush to the spot. After conducting preliminary investigation, the police took the duo into its custody and interrogated them further on the basis of a complaint by the lady professor. The police thereafter arrested them on the basis of initial findings. "She also alleged in her complaint that when she somehow escaped from there, the captain, who was accompanied by the hostel warden Ajay Singh, stalked her to her college hostel and and repeatedly knocked at the door of her room and further created ruckus," said a police official privy to the investigation. "Subsequently, the two were sent to jail the same day," he said further.He said that the Army captain, who is posted with the Assam Rifles, is a doctor, and had come to the city to attend a medicos meet, where he met the lady professor, also a doctor.The lady professor stated in her complaint that captain Satya Prakash , who was drunk, not only misbehaved with her but also tried to drag her from her four-wheeler when she was returning to her hostel after attending the meet in the city on April 13.

KANPUR: An Army captain and a hostel warden have been arrested and sent to jail for allegedly stalking and molesting a lady professor in Bithoor area of the city.According to station house officer (SHO), Bithoor, Tulsi Ram Pandey , an FIR following a complaint by the lady professor was registered against the duo under relevant sections including 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) 354 (d) (Any man who, follows a woman and contacts, or attempts to contact such woman to foster personal interaction repeatedly despite a clear indication of disinterest by such woman) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC.Pandey said that the incident had occurred on April 13, and the arrest of the duo after preliminary investigations was made on April 15.
