KANPUR: After two days of intense heatwave, a high-velocity thunder storm lashed the city on Thursday evening.The storm was followed by rain, bringing down the mercury and providing relief to the denizens.The day temperature had reached a record 44.4 degree Celsius on Tuesday, while it was 42.4 degrees on Wednesday. But storm and evening rains proved relief.Power was disrupted in many areas as poles and trees were uprooted. The Met department of CSA university has predicted more dust storms on May 29 and 30 followed by rains. There was not much relief to denizens on Thursday as well as the temperature recorded for the day was 42 degrees, three degrees above normal. The tree also damaged an electricity pole and plunged the area into darkness.
