After hearing the ordeal of the woman, the BJP MP informed senior police officers.“Following tip-off provided by the woman, we have rescued four men, three women and two minors from so-called Sadhvi Shalini Shukla’s ashram. Locals also alleged that they often heard the women crying at night,” said inspector M P Singh of Shivli police.Sadhvi Shalini along with her fled the ashram. A case has been lodged against the Sadhvi and her aides. KANPUR: Kanpur Dehat police raided an ashram in Shivli area of the district on Thursday and rescued nine people — four men, three women and two minors — who were allegedly confined there.Police raided the ashram, run by one Sadhvi Shalini Shukla, on the basis of information provided by one of the captive women who managed to escape earlier.She had alerted the villagers about the “inhuman” manner in which people were confined” and alleged that the “prisoners” were tortured for not following the diktats of Sadhvi Shalini Shukla and her aides.The villagers then took the woman to a chaupal organised by BJP MP Devendra Singh Bhole.
