"Everybody knows about the hazards of polythene, therefore, it is in their interest not to manufacture polythene below 55 micron", the DM said.It may be mentioned that 35 kg polythene was seized from various parts of the city on Tuesday and Rs. The teams also conducted an awareness campaign against use of polythene.Dairy and confectionery shops were raided in Kidwai Nagar area and around 1.700 kg polythene was seized from the dairy and around 400 gms from confectionery shop. City magistrate Vaibhav Mishra said if polythene is found in hotels, restaurants, business complexes, educational institutions, offices, or shops, a fine to the tune of Rs 1000 would be imposed.According to Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) sources, accumulation of garbage in the city has reduced to some extent after ban on polythene.
