Bride refuses to tie knot with limping groom at wedding

KANPUR: A high-voltage drama was witnessed at a guest house in Chhibramau town of UP's Kannauj district on Sunday when a bride refused to marry her groom , who was allegedly limping during their wedding ceremony.The bride alleged the groom was limping when he arrived for 'bhanwar' rituals in the ' mandap' after ' jaimaal' ceremony. But as Yogesh arrived at the mandap, she allegedly noticed that he was limping and couldn't walk straight. "The bride was waiting for the groom for 'bhanwar' ceremony. However, Ruby refused to budge from her stand citing 'betrayal' from the groom's side.A panchayat was called to sort out the issue, but in vain. Later, the matter was reported to the police, reports said.Later, the two families entered into a compromise and decided to call off the matrimonial alliance.

She also accused her would-be in-laws of hiding the fact regarding the disability of their son.Reports said Yogesh, a resident of Udharan village of Chhibramau, had gone to Nigoh along with a ' baraat' to tie the nuptial knot with Ruby."The bride was waiting for the groom for 'bhanwar' ceremony. But as Yogesh arrived at the mandap, she allegedly noticed that he was limping and couldn't walk straight. Alleging that he was hiding some physical disability, Ruby refused to marry him," said a villager.Sensing the seriousness of the matter, Yogesh's parents asked Ruby's parents to marry her with their younger son at the same venue. However, Ruby refused to budge from her stand citing 'betrayal' from the groom's side.A panchayat was called to sort out the issue, but in vain. Later, the matter was reported to the police, reports said.Later, the two families entered into a compromise and decided to call off the matrimonial alliance. They returned gifts and jewellery which the couple had exchanged at the time of their engagement and the groom and the ' baraat' returned empty-handed.SHO Chhibramau Santosh Kumar Vyas said, "After the incident on Sunday, both the families accepted Ruby's decision and returned the gifts that were exchanged after sorting out the matter amicably. We have received no complaints from either side."
