KANPUR: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped in front of her mother by two SUV-borne men in Kannauj district on Tuesday. The incidence took place in Pratappur village under the limits of Gursahaiganj Kotwali police station of the district.According to police, the woman, along with her minor daughter, was going to see her son — who is lodged in Kannauj district jail on rape charge — on Tuesday afternoon when four SUV-borne men offered lift to them. Two of them later overpowered the girl and raped her in the moving vehicle in front of her mother, say police.After committing the crime, the four men threw the survivor and her mother off the speeding vehicle near Pratappur village and fled from the scene. They also threatened the two of dire consequences if they dared speak about the incidence, the police said. The girl has been admitted to a district hospital in Kannauj. Her medical examination is being done to corroborate the allegations, the police said.The survivor’s mother narrated the incident to passers-by, who alerted Gursahaiganj Kotwali police. "An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and a massive search operation is under way to nab the SUV-borne miscreants," said additional superintendent of police Keshav Chandra Goswami. “We are in the process of recording the statement of the minor, who is undergoing treatment at a local hospital," Goswami added.
