LUCKNOW: Union home minister Rajnath Singh said here on Sunday that he was just following the vision of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee , who was also a five-time MP from the city. These three will declog some of the busiest crossings of the city like Bans Mandi, Naka Hindola, Haiderganj and Victoria Street. Shaheed Path in Lucknow was started by Atalji when he was the prime minister and I was the Union surface transport minister.”A majority of projects launched on Sunday were about de-congesting the city which is reeling under the pressure of over 20 lakh registered vehicles on its road.The most prominent among them were three flyovers in the city to be constructed at a cost of Rs 274 crore. Speaking at a function to launch 308 projects worth Rs 938 crore, he also praised chief minister Yogi Adityanath for his dedication to the development of Uttar Pradesh Most of the development works had started in Lucknow when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was elected as an MP from here and later on he became the prime minister, he said, adding “I am simply following the vision and the dreams of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.“No one can deny the fact that the 'Vikas Ki Ganga' in Lucknow was initiated by him and was further taken up by former MP Lalji Tandon. Besides foundation for an elevated road to connect Amausi airport to Shaheed Path was also laid.With the completion of an elevated road connecting outer ring road to the proposed Lucknow-Kanpur expressway, the travel time between Lucknow and Kanpur would be reduced to just 45 minutes, said the Union home minister.Speaking on the occasion, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that Rajnath Singh had been pursuing the development works aggressively and it was because of his efforts that Lucknow has projects of over Rs 30,000 crore which would cater to the needs of the people in different segments like roads, drinking water, urban development, health and power.In view of increasing air traffic inflow at the Lucknow airport, on Rajnath Singh’s efforts, the passenger landing capacity has been increased to one crore and a new integrated terminal building has been sanctioned by the Central government and it would be completed in three years, the CM said.The Metro train project would also be fully completed by next year, said the chief minister claiming that it would also be a huge facility for the daily commuters from one end of the city to the other.
