"Chief development officer (CDO) Abhishek Anand, district forest officer Arvind Kumar and other officials were present at the meeting.The CDO told TOI that a major chunk of plantation target belongs to the forest department, which has to plant 8,27,629 saplings. KANPUR: District magistrate Vijay Vishwas Pant on Saturday warned the officials of 20 departments, including forest, not to fudge data during plantation drive to be carried out till 5 pm on August 15.Speaking at a review meeting for plantation programme in the district held at the Collectorate auditorium, the DM said that any laxity in this connection would not be tolerated. We would cross check the data and stringent action would be taken against those giving wrong information, he added.He said that Kanpur's target of plantation was of 15,73,250 saplings and it should be achieved by August 15.Chief minister Yogi Adityanath would monitor the state-level campaign in which around nine crore saplings would be planted across the state.The district magistrate said, "As this drive is a public campaign , therefore, participation of every village, panchayat, nagar panchayat , municipal bodies, development authority, schools, colleges and voluntary organizations should be ensured for the success of this campaign.
