UP: IPS officer ‘consumes’ poison, critical

But his blood pressure and pulse could not be recorded following which he was put on life support system,” it said adding that he is being treated by physicians and cardiologists. However, SP (West) Sanjiv Suman denied that any suicide note was found.ADG Kanpur Zone Avinash Chandra said, “Das had last interacted with circle officers on patrolling late on Tuesday. His wife is pursuing MD from Ganesh Shankar Vidhyarthi Memorial Medical College in the city.Police sources said a two-page suicide note was also recovered from the spot where Das was found unconscious.

His wife is pursuing MD from Ganesh Shankar Vidhyarthi Memorial Medical College in the city.Police sources said a two-page suicide note was also recovered from the spot where Das was found unconscious. However, SP (West) Sanjiv Suman denied that any suicide note was found.ADG Kanpur Zone Avinash Chandra said, “Das had last interacted with circle officers on patrolling late on Tuesday. At around 4am on Wednesday, his wife, who is a doctor, found him lying in unconscious with froth oozing from his mouth.”The ADG added that Das was immediately rushed to Ursala Horseman hospital from where he was shifted to Regency hospital in Sarvodaya nagar area, where his condition is stated to be serious.“Das had worked till late in the night on Tuesday. As per his juniors, his behaviour was very normal. But, for what reason he consumed some poisonous substance will be probed,” the ADG said.He said the police will inquire with the IPS officer’s wife and other family members in this regard.Das’s parents and other family members, who originally belong to Ballia, have arrived in the city from Lucknow after receiving the information.Meanwhile, a huge rush of senior police and administrative officials was witnessed all day long at the Regency hospital.A medical bulletin was also released by the hospital stating that Das is “currently on life support system in the intensive care unit.”The bulletin, signed by chief medical superintendent of the hospital Dr Rajesh Agarwal, said the SP (East) was admitted in a critical condition at around 6am on Wednesday.“After preliminary examination, Das was shifted to the intensive care unit. But his blood pressure and pulse could not be recorded following which he was put on life support system,” it said adding that he is being treated by physicians and cardiologists.
