KANPUR: A man in the city on Monday filed a police complaint against his wife alleging that she was ignoring him after developing a lesbian relationship with his cousin. The couple were married five months ago.Police said the girl is from Fatehpur while her partner lives near the complainant's house under the limits of Kotwali police of the city.In his complaint, the man alleged that his wife developed physical intimacy with his cousin just after their marriage and started ignoring him. "Our physical relationship has been ruined since my wife developed lesbian relations with my cousin sister. She has started staying with my sister in my absence, drawing the attention of my family members and local residents, who have even called for a social boycott of the two women and their families," he said.However, emboldened by the recent SC decision decriminalizing homosexuality , the two now openly profess their love, he added.On Saturday, the man and his family members had caught his cousin and wife in a compromising position in their house. "I rebuked them, but they did not budge and instead threatened to commit suicide," the complaint said.The complainant's parents said: "We had no idea that the two were up to other things than being just good friends.""In spite of knowing all this, my son went on to help her to live with him as a wife, but she tortured him a lot mentally. She even asked him to marry a second time and leave them lone. The situation went out of control when she threatened to end her life along with her lesbian partner (sister-in-law) and charge my son and us in a suicide note for doing so," said the man's mother with a request not to reveal her identity.SP Pradyumna Singh said that police have received a complaint and the matter was being probed by the Kotwali poilce."We will seek a legal opinion in view of the recent SC decision to decriminalize homosexuality before reaching any conclusion. Investigations are still continuing in this regard," he added.
