KANPUR: The list of beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Scheme (ABNHPS) for the poor and deprived rural families and the identified occupational category of urban workers’ families has thrown up a “surprise” in Uttar Pradesh The list has names of UP minister Satish Mahana and his family members, besides a former BJP MLA from Kanpur, Salil Vishnoi, and several other prominent city builders. The scheme aims to provide cover of Rs 5 lakh per annum to each family, along with cashless health services.Strangely, the information was given to senior district authorities by none other than Satish Mahana, state minister for industrial development, even as he demanded a thorough inquiry into the matter and stringent action against those responsible for the “gross negligence”.Mahana said he and his family were not entitled to the scheme and the matter needs to be probed. “I came to know about my name along with my family members’ reflecting in Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection beneficiary scheme website from some reliable sources. I contacted district officials and instructed them to conduct a thorough probe and initiate strict action against those responsible for the gross negligence,” he said.The list includes the name of Satish Mahana, his wife Anita Mahana and family members Karan Mahana, Radhika, Jahanavi and Neha. Sources told TOI that the list also has the name of a former BJP MLA Salil Vishnoi and his family members, besides prominent builders of the city. Vishnoi said, “It is an attempt to malign the image of senior BJP leaders. The matter should be probed and those responsible be punished.”DM Vijay Vishwas Pant said a probe has been ordered and those responsible for the negligence will face action.
