Fireworks worth Rs 50 lakh seized from homoeopathy clinic in Etawah

KANPUR: A police raid on a homoeopathy clinic run by one Dr Awdhesh Porwal in Kalyan Nagar of Bharthana town of Etawah district on Wednesday yielded a cache of fireworks worth Rs 50 lakh. The accused had stored fireworks upto the capacity of nearly four loaders at his clinic in residential-cum-commercial locality proving hazardous to the residents, said police. "Though Porwal showed us his homoeopathy degree, he couldn't produce valid licence of fireworks which he had dumped in his clinic for sale during Diwali ," added police. We have been seeing many suspicious elements travelling on loaders coming to the clinic at odd hours. The stock was hoarded in four rooms of the clinic.

The accused had stored fireworks upto the capacity of nearly four loaders at his clinic in residential-cum-commercial locality proving hazardous to the residents, said police."Though Porwal showed us his homoeopathy degree, he couldn't produce valid licence of fireworks which he had dumped in his clinic for sale during Diwali ," added police."The clinic is located in residential-cum-commercial area which may cause damage to the lives of the residents if any untoward incident occurs," said SDM Bharthana Nand Prakash Maurya."As Porwal could not present the documents against the hoarded fireworks, he has been booked under relevant sections of IPC, besides Explosives Act and sent to jail," said CO Bharthana Vikas Jaiswal. The seized fire crackers are being shifted to safer place in four loaders.A resident, who did not want to be identified, said, "The doctor used to treat patients during day time and indulge in illegal activities during late night hours. We have been seeing many suspicious elements travelling on loaders coming to the clinic at odd hours. We realised something fishy is going on and hence brought it to the notice of the police."SSP Etawah Ashok Kumar Tripathi requested the residents to inform the police if they see anyone purchasing or hoarding of firecrackers illegally by dialling 100 or by sending a WhatsApp message to police group."Strict action will be taken against the violators as they are putting the safety of residents at risk," said the SSP and added that action will also be taken against the concerned beat police official for failing to curb the sale of firecrackers in the area.
