KANPUR: National chairman of All India Confederation of SC/ST Organizations Udit Raj on Friday said “It is time people changed their perception about SC/ST Act being misused in the country”.“There is a strong misconception among people over the SC/ST Act. Why do people raise a hue and cry only over SC/ST Act and why not over rape and dowry Acts, which are being widely misused in the country. There are cases wherein people of upper caste have been found to be misusing it (SC/ST). Now, time has come that people should change their perception over SC/ST Act,” said Udit Raj while speaking at a SC/ST, Backward, and Minorities Confederation programme held in the city.“It’s an irony that when rape and dowry Acts are being widely misused, no political leader comes forward to protest,” Raj added.“Arrest cannot be made without strong evidence, besides eyewitness. People from Delhi, UP, Haryana Gujarat , Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka , Punjab, Jharkhand , Rajasthan, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh will attend,” he claimed.
