The mastermind Sharad Singh, a doctor, and his gang members, including three school managers, 10 invigilators were arrested along with and five candidates.

LUCKNOW: While busting two gangs that were trying to rig the recruitment exam for the post of supervisor in social welfare and rural development department held on Saturday, special task force (STF) sleuths chanced upon a novel modus operandi in which exam invigilators were also involved and were sent photographs of solved OMR sheets by the solvers.STF busted two gangs and arrested 29 persons in all from Lucknow, Kanpur and Gorakhpur . The exam was conducted by Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission across the state.SSP (STF) Abhishek Singh said that the arrests were made in time and examination was not compromised anywhere. Singh revealed that the gang used to approach candidates appearing in competitive exam and charged Rs 10-12 lakh from each depending upon the post.”“After a deal was secured, Singh used to contact school managers and placed his men as invigilators on duty during the examination. The invigilators used to click image of question papers of different sets and sent it to solvers. The solvers used to send back the answers similarly. In the meantime, the candidates were asked not to answer the questions they were unsure about. The invigilators filled up the correct answers later,” added Singh.STF officials were interrogating Manish Kumar, the mastermind of second gang and nine others arrested.
