KANPUR: Minister of state for railways Manoj Sinha said the railway ministry will sanction its share for construction of all railway overbridges (ROBs) in the state within 7-10 days subject to the condition that UP government provides a list of ROBs which have to be raised, alongwith an undertaking that it would share 50 percent cost of all the RoB constructions.Speaking at a function on the occasion of renaming of Panki railway station to Panki Dham station, Sinha said, “The station will now be known as Panki Dham. The railways have not only changed its name but also developed it, which will reduce train load at Central railway station”.He said yard, inter-locking and electrification of Panki Dham station has been expanded. He also announced to construct a foot over bridge at Panki Dham station.“The work done by the railways in the last four years is more than what the previous governments did in 15 years”, he claimed. The cess charged on crude oil gave some extra money to the government, and its major part had been spent on development of railway infrastructure, he said.The minister said that railways had spent Rs.50 crore for up-gradation of Kanpur Central Station which included enhancing capacity of loco shed, construction of roof top solar panel, escalators, change of pipes and RCC slabs. For Kumbh, the railways have spent Rs 700 crore for facility of passengers. On this occasion, he also flagged off Panki Bhaupur train.UP industry minister Satish Mahana speaking on the occasion said that completion of Amritsar to Kolkata freight corridor would help traders to send their goods in time. He requested the railway minister to clear construction of RoBs at Sarsaul and Chakeri railway stations.
