In memory of Atal, Rs 5 cr for Centre of Excellence in DAV

Kanpur : The Yogi government, on Thursday, allocated a sum of Rs 5 crore to set up a Centre of Excellence in Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College in memory of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who studied here once. He said that the provision of Rs 600 crore for implementation of Infrastructure and Industrial Investment Policy-2012 is good. Industrial city deserves to have its own metro service.”A provision of Rs 357 crore has also been made for Rural Institute of Medical Sciences in Saifai. “But government should have allocated more in the MSME Enterprises Promotion Policy-2017,” he added.The government made a provision of Rs 175 crore each for Kanpur Metro and Agra Metro Rail projects.

Kanpur : The Yogi government, on Thursday, allocated a sum of Rs 5 crore to set up a Centre of Excellence in Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College in memory of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who studied here once. The UP Budget 2019-2020, was presented on Thursday.Vajpayee studied at DAV College for five years and completed his post-graduation with an MA in political science from here. His political journey started thereafter when he was elected to the Lok Sabha from Balrampur in 1957.Welcoming the government’s decision, Nagendra Swarup, secretary, board of management, DAV College said, “The unique thing about Vajpayee’s educational journey was that he and his father, Krishna Bihari Vajpayee, together took admission in BA-LLB course. The duo used to live together in room number 104 of DAV hostel. Atalji found it embarrassing to study in the same classroom with his father, who was a retired school teacher. Their admission was a topic of discussion among students as well as teachers. So, both of them decided not to attend the classes together. The hostel has now been turned into the a girls’ hostel.”On the provisions for industries and MSMEs, senior dignitary of Provincial Industries Association (PIA), Atul Seth said that government has made a good effort to give boost to the industries. He said that the provision of Rs 600 crore for implementation of Infrastructure and Industrial Investment Policy-2012 is good. “But government should have allocated more in the MSME Enterprises Promotion Policy-2017,” he added.The government made a provision of Rs 175 crore each for Kanpur Metro and Agra Metro Rail projects. Welcoming the step, Kaleem Khan, a leather exporter said, “The government should step up the work of Metro in the city which was earlier perceived by the SP government. Industrial city deserves to have its own metro service.”A provision of Rs 357 crore has also been made for Rural Institute of Medical Sciences in Saifai.
