Kannauj soldier dies in J&K gunfight

Bhanu Pratap Singh, younger brother of Surya Pratap, said, “On Monday, we received a phone call at around 9 am and were told that Surya Pratap had suffered serious wounds following a gunfight with militants. Kanpur: A pall of gloom descended in Shahjahanpur village in Kannauj on Monday after the news of the death of soldier Surya Pratap Singh spread.Surya (35) of Rajput Regiment was martyred in a fierce gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday. Surya Pratap got married in 2010 and is survived by his wife Ranjana and two children including daughter Siddhi (5) and son Prabal Pratap Singh (3). Later, through another phone call we were told that he had sacrificed his life.”Surya Pratap, a high school passout, had joined the Army in 2000. He had last spoken to his wife on Monday last, said his family members.
