KANPUR: Union minister for health and family planning JP Nadda accused Congress for doing politics over farmers’ loan waiver scheme.Addressing a gathering during the launch of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan scheme at Harcourt Butler Techincal University (HBTU) hin the city on Tuesday, the Union minister said, “Congress has been doing politics over farmers loan waiver since a long time. Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Karnataka are the latest examples where once the elections were over, they (Congress) waived off loan of only a few farmers. We never made false promises, and have already started disbursing instalments to farmers under PM-Kisan scheme”.“Under ‘Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan’ scheme, our target is to cover 40 crore workers of the unorganised sectors,” he said and added that a contribution of equal amount as that of the beneficiary would be made by the Union government.“Those who are raising slogans like ‘Country (India) is transforming’ and ‘Acche din’ (good days) will come, I just want to tell them that the country, under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already changed a lot and ‘acche din’ have come”, he claimed.Targeting the former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi by quoting her famous slogan ‘Gharibi hatao’ in 1971, Nadda said it was a false promise, and banks nationalisation was mere an eyewash in the name of helping the poor.“Till 2014, there were only 2.45 crore bank account holders across the country, but since 2014 around 33 crore accounts were opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY),” said the Union mister.
