KANPUR: The city unit of BJP believes that a wooden chair kept in the party office is 'auspicious' for the party. "We will request the PM to sit on this auspicious wooden chair once again", he added. As long as this chair remains in the BJP office, we will continue to win Kanpur Nagar Lok Sabha seat".He said it was was the same chair which PM Narendra Modi had used in 2014 Lok Sabha elections after which the party got a thumping victory. The local leadership of the saffron party also believes that the 'lucky chair' had catapulted the party to power at the Centre in 2014. Since it is auspicious for us, therefore, it is kept for public 'darshan' at our office in Naveen Market.

KANPUR: The city unit of BJP believes that a wooden chair kept in the party office is 'auspicious' for the party. The local leadership of the saffron party also believes that the 'lucky chair' had catapulted the party to power at the Centre in 2014. It was also used by PM Narendra Modi during his earlier visits to the city. The chair, which is kept in a glass box at the party's Naveen Market office, was being readied once again ahead of PM Narendra Modi's visit to the city on March 8.Though the party leaders wanted that the PM should sit on the chair once again to emerge victorious in 2019 Lok Sabha polls, but this time, for security reasons, the ' auspicious chair ' would not be used by the PM during his Kanpur rally.Talking to TOI, BJP's district president Surendra Maithani said, "This time, for security reasons, PM Narendra Modi would be using a different chair instead of the wooden chair. Since it is auspicious for us, therefore, it is kept for public 'darshan' at our office in Naveen Market. As long as this chair remains in the BJP office, we will continue to win Kanpur Nagar Lok Sabha seat".He said it was was the same chair which PM Narendra Modi had used in 2014 Lok Sabha elections after which the party got a thumping victory. We wished if PM could use this chair again. "Modiji has used the same chair on two earlier occasions. He sat on this chair during the first election rally, named as Virat Shankhnad rally held in Indira Nagar ground in the city on October 19, 2013, which was attended by about seven lakh people", Maithani said. When Modiji sat on the chair at a rally held in Koyla Nagar before 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the party not only won Kanpur and Akbarpur Lok Sabha seats but a total of 71 BJP MPs had emerged victorious in the state, he said. "We will request the PM to sit on this auspicious wooden chair once again", he added.
