Kanpur: Holi this year was different at the ancestral house of SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav in Saifai, Etawah. Last year, the entire Yadav clan, including Shivpal, Akhilesh, Badaun MP Dharmendra Yadav and Mainpuri MP Tej Pratap Singh Yadav had enjoyed Holi festivities along with the villagers, party workers, supporters and friends. For the first time after launching his political outfit — Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party-Lohia (PSP-L) — Shivpal Yadav gave a miss to the traditional festivities at his elder brother Mulayam’s house and instead celebrated the festival with his family and well-wishers at SS College in Saifai on Thursday.Family sources said that till last year, the entire Yadav clan, including Akhilesh Yadav, Shivpal Yadav and Ram Gopal Yadav, had assembled at Saifai to play Holi together and seek Mulayam’s blessings. The celebrities were held in the lawns of Mulayam’s residence amid showers of flower petals and abeer-gulal.“Shivpal and Akhilesh, who were involved in a bitter battle with each other in the party since 2016, had shared the dais after a long time in 2018 Holi in Saifai,” said SP sources.Shivpal, however, had not taken part in the Holi festivities at Saifai in 2017 and celebrated the occasion with his supporters at his Etawah residence instead. The sources further said that though Shivpal met elder brother Mulayam at the latter’s residence in Civil Lines area early on Wednesday evening and sought his blessings, he didn’t attend Holi celebrations at his residence where almost every member of the Yadav clan, including SP chief Akhilesh and party general secretary Ram Gopal, were present. On his part, Akhilesh addressed a gathering of party workers and supporters and asked them to be wary of social media, strengthen their booths and help SP-BSP combine dethrone Modi government.
