The truck on its way to Banda from Fatehpur hit her following which sustained serious injuries and died on the spot.“In an attempt to overtake, the truck hit the girl who was crossing the road. The intensity of the accident was such that the girl was thrown several metres away and died instantly,” said eyewitnesses.After the postmortem, the body was handed over to the family members. Kanpur:A 12-year-old girl was killed on the spot after she was knocked down by a truck in Fatehpur district on Friday, leading to protest by the local residents.According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Afsana Begum, a resident of Khatauli village under the limits of Lalauli police station.The accident occurred when she was on her way to throw garbage on the other side of the road on Friday morning. A case has been registered in Lalauli police station.As the news on the accident spread, a large number of villagers along with girl’s family members staged a protest demanding necessary compensation to the parents of the victim.The situation was brought under control when senior police officers assured villagers of forwarding their demands to the district authorities.SHO Lalauli Rajesh Maurya said that the truck driver has been arrested.
