Kanpur: On Tuesday night, 17 people died in a collision between a tempo and a double-decker bus coming from the opposite direction in Kisan Nagar under Sachendi police station area of ??Kanpur. All those who died are tempo riders. At the same time, eight and four passengers of the tempo of the bus that fell down about 20 feet in the accident have also been injured. Two of them are in critical condition. All the injured were admitted to the halt.

The post-mortem of all the 17 people killed in the road accident started at 2:00 pm and ended at 6:00 am. The double-decker bus of Kalpana Travels left Fazalganj for Ahmedabad at around 8 pm on Tuesday night. There were about 100 passengers in the bus.
At around 8.30 pm, the bus reached near Kisan Nagar Bharat Gas Agency, when a tempo full of passengers came from the front. After a head-on collision, the bus fell into a ditch on the side of the road. According to the police, 21 people were aboard the tempo, out of which 17 died.

After a struggle of about two hours, the police got the bodies out and sent them to the post-mortem house. The injured were sent to Halt. Police Commissioner Aseem Arun, IG Mohit Agarwal, Additional CP Akash Kulhari and other police and administrative officers reached Halat and inquired about the well being of the injured. IG Mohit Agarwal has confirmed 17 deaths. He said that all possible treatment is being given to the injured. According to ADG Bhanu Bhaskar, both the drivers of the bus were intoxicated.
