Kanpur: Speaker of UP legislative Assembly Satish Mahana on Wednesday convened a review meeting for the overall development of Kanpur city and directed the officials concerned to execute the road widening work at Rama Devi crossing which has not started yet. He asked to establish coordination among the departments concerned so that the road widening work could be started soon.He directed the officials of the departments concerned to conduct a survey and prepare an action plan to solve problems of water logging and sewerage on both sides of the Airport and HAL of the road leading from Rama Devi to the airport.Regarding relocation of the vegetable market to Ramadevi, the municipal corporation officers informed the speaker that a place had been identified where construction work of the road was going on and the vegetable market would be shifted to that place.The roads which have been damaged due to the rain needed to be identified by the departments concerned and an action plan should be prepared so that these roads could be prepared after the rainy season, Mahana said.He asked the KDA officials to simplify the process of getting house maps passed by the KDA so that the people could get their house map passed easily and not face any kind of inconvenience. The land occupied by Vishnu Kumar Yadav alias Pandu Yadav was found to belong to the KDA, prompting the enforcement team to take action. The KDA vice-chairman has directed officials to put all plots up for auction after examining the land records.Pune Municipal Corporation mulls over pay-and-park scheme on some select roadsThe Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is considering the implementation of a pay-and-park scheme to reduce traffic congestion. The proposal was previously put forward in 2018 but was not pursued due to opposition and lack of political support. With the availability of options like the Metro for public transport, experts believe now is the right time to introduce paid parking. The civic administration is conducting surveys to identify suitable roads and parking zones, and discussions are underway with the city police for the schemes implementation.
