250 rly staffers booked for stopping Shatabdi Exp in protest

Kanpur: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) have registered a case against 250 railway employees, including office bearers of the Railway Union, for stopping Shatabdi Express at Kanpur Central Station during a protest against the recent death of an assistant driver in a road accident. The protesters are being identified through CCTV footage preserved as evidence. According to reports, goods train assistant loco pilot Divyanshu (27) was returning from duty on September 14 on a bike when he was hit by a vehicle near Ahirwan Air Force Colony in Chakeri and sustained critical injuries. The police took him to Kanshiram Hospital where doctors declared him dead.Angry over Divyanshus death, the railway employees reached the Central Station and created a massive ruckus. Office bearers of Railway Union also joined the agitation. The protesters thereafter stopped the Lucknow bound Shatabdi Express due to which the train was delayed by half an hour.Subsequently, the RPF registered a case on September 15 and initiated an investigation. Central Station RPF police station in-charge DP Singh said a case has been registered against 250 employees for stopping the Shatabdi Express. CCTV footage has been preserved as evidence and investigations are continuing. The shed, costing INR 5 crore, is the 19th in the division and is linked to the Indian Railways FOIS network. The shed has a total area of over 10,500 square meters and can handle 42 covered wagons at a time. It also includes an office, traders room, and restrooms for laborers. The shed will be electrified along with the electrification of the Madurai and Bodinayakkanur section.
