Protest after two bikers die in road accident

Kanpur: Following death of two people in a road accident, their families and villagers accused police of negligence and staged a protest at the office of the superintendent of police at Mati headquarters Kanpur Dehat, on Thursday.The protesters accused police of delay in providing timely medical aid to the injured which caused their death.They also alleged that instead of taking the injured to the hospital, police got busy with panchnama formalities.The body could be sent for post mortem only after senior police officials intervened and assured them of fair investigation and strict action against those responsible for the death.Awadhesh and Anuj, heading to Shivrajpur from Rura, were knocked down by a speeding car near Makarandpur village of Shivli Kotwali police station area of Kanpur Dehat. Both suffered critical injuries and died on the spot.As soon as information reached family members of both, villagers reached the spot and created a ruckus accusing police of delay in ensuring medical treatment to the victims. Later, they reached the SP office at Mati headquarters with both bodies and staged a protest there.On receiving information about the uproar, CO Akbarpur Arun Kumar reached the spot.CO told media persons that two people had died in a road accident. Both are relatives. Their families of the deceased have accused the police of negligence, which is being investigated. The police are currently investigating the matter and have asked for the familys consent for an autopsy. In other news, a person was arrested by Ludhiana rural police for possession of a countrymade weapon, while a bootlegger escaped from police custody in Ahmedabad, and an arrest was made in connection with the assault of a minor boy in Mumbai.Five people of two families die in two accidents in TiruvannamalaiFive people were killed and two others injured in two separate accidents in Tiruvannamalai district. In the first accident, a driver, his wife, and daughter were hit by a speeding bus while riding their bike. The driver and his daughter died on the spot, while the wife succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. In the second accident, a mechanic and his family were traveling in a car when it lost control and plunged into a trench. The mechanic died on the way to the hospital, while his wife and daughter were referred to a private hospital.
