Kanpur: The police have arrested three persons on charges of gangrape, on Thursday while a search has been launched for the another accused who is absconding. The incident took place on Sunday when the woman was going on a bike with her male friend near Ikghara village road. On the way she stopped to relieve herself when four accused, already present there, gang-raped her. When her friend protested, they thrashed him and threatened him with dire consequences.Due to social constraint, the survivor hid the gangrape incident from the police and filed only a case of assault and robbery. However, the next day she reached the police station with her mother and filed a complaint of gangrape on Monday.Additional deputy commissioner of police (South) Ankita Sharma said the girl, a native of Fatehpur, lives in Kanpur area with her younger sister and works in a mall in Fazalganj area of the city. On Sunday evening, she was going on a bike with her male friend through Ikghara village of Sen Paschim Para. There, she stopped at a deserted place to relieve herself whne four crooks present there caught hold of her, she said. When her male companion protested, he was beaten up and threatened with dire consequences. All four then took turns to rape her. When she raised an alarm, she too was allegedly beaten up and deprived of her belongings including mobile phone and bag.Police station in-charge Pawan Kumar and crime branch have arrested three accused identified as Devideen, Abhishek alias Nannu, Sandeep, all residents of Fatehpur, while the fourth is absconding.
