Road rage leaves bizman injured, admitted to AIIMS

Kanpur: A 46-year-old owner of a surgical equipment shop fell victim to road rage near the City Club in Raipurwa area of on Saturday night. Amol Deep Bhatia, resident of Shyamnagar, Chakeri, runs a surgical equipment shop near Lala Lajpat Rai hospital in Swaroopnagar, was beaten mercilessly following heated arguments with five men after his SUV collided with their car. One of the occupants of the car was Ankit Shukla, husband of Saumya Shukla, corporator of BJPs Ward No. 95 .According to Bhatia, the incident took place when he was on his way home late Saturday night and his SUV collided with a car near the City Club.The occupants of the car caught up with Bhatia at a distance and stopped him.A verbal argument ensued between them and the five men started thrashing him. A video of brutally injured Bhatia lying in a life support ambulance, his head and right eye wrapped in a bandage, went viral on social media.As per his family members, the beating left Bhatia with eye injuries so severe injury that he has almost lost vision in one eye. He was air lifted and admitted to AIIMS, Delhi, in a critical condition.Joint commissioner of police Anand Prakash Tiwari said, We have lodged FIR under sections 324, 354, 504 and 506, while the opposite party has filed a complaint too. They have also made allegations of assault. We are taking doctors opinions regarding injuries and investigating the allegations levelled by both parties against each other. A team has been sent to Delhi for further investigation. We initiate strictest action and ensure such incidents do not occur.
