Man shoots younger brother after dispute over household expenses

Kanpur: The dispute over helping in the household expenses between two brothers took an ugly turn in Juhis Parampurwa area as the elder one shot dead his younger brother on Tuesday.The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Adnan who was allegedly shot dead by his elder brother Arzoo (27), the police said. Deputy commissioner of police (South) and additional deputy commissioner of police (South) reached the spot and supervised the investigation.Adnans father, Azmat Khan, a resident of Parampurwa, runs a grocery shop in the vicinity of his house and lives with his family, including his wife Qismatun Nisa , four sons Arzoo, Irfan, Faisal, Adnan (now deceased) and a daughter Ramsha. Adnan, who was the youngest among the four brothers, used to work in a medical store located near Nahariya. He was also preparing for B. Pharma course. Adnan was sleeping on the terrace with his mother on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, when his mother went down to the room to offer namaz, in the meantime Arzoo, armed with a country-made firearm, reached there and shot Adnan in his head. He died on the spot.Later, the accused fled from the spot.According to the family members, the elder brother Arzoo is of a criminal mindset. He did not do any work and the younger brother often used to ask him to help with the household expenses, they said. It came to fore that on Monday night, after an argument between the two on the same issues, Adnan was shot by Arzoo on Tuesday morning. The police have sent the body of the deceased for the post-mortem examination. The case is being investigated, the police said.Meanwhile, Adnans father Azmat said that when he reached the terrace, after hearing the gunshot, his sons body was lying in a pool of blood. Soon, he alerted other family members, who in turn informed the police control room about the incident, he said.
