Body of rape accused found hanging

Kanpur: The body of a youth accused of raping a minor in Unnao last year was found hanging in a rented room in Kalyanpur area of the City (Kanpur), on Tuesday. Police rushed to the spot and took the body in custody and sent it for post-mortem. They informed the family about the incident. Ashish (23), son of Rajesh Vishwakarma, a resident of Maurawan Mohiuddinpur village of Unnao was a shuttering worker.Elder brother Shivam said four days ago Ashish had gone to Kanpur to work with his relative Anoop, who lives on rent in Shyam Vihar near Kalyanpur Panki road in Kanpur. Ashishs body was found hanging in a closed room on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Anoop was found missing from the room. When he did not respond despite repeated knockings, landlord Pradeep Dubey alerted the police. Family members said that a village man had lodged a complaint against Ashish for raping his minor daughter. Ashish was out on bail. They further alleged that the girls father was demanding Rs 5 lakh from his son for settlement. When Ashish refused, he murdered him and later hanged his body from the ceiling of the room, they alleged.
