Road rage case: ₹25K reward for info on BJP corporator’s husband

Kanpur: The Kanpur Commissionerate police announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on five accused, including Ankit Shukla, whose wife is a Bharatiya Janata Party corporator, in connection with the road rage case, wherein businessman Amol Deep Bhatia suffered grievous injuries in both eyes after severe beating by the accused, on September 23 night.The Commissionerate police has formed 10 teams to nab all five accused and is trying to obtain non-bailable warrants against them. DCP (Central) Pramod Kumar said a case had been lodged against five people, including Ankit Shukla, 36 and his aides Satendra Bajpai, 43, Ankur Singh, 45, Suraj Tiwari,30, and Yashaswi Shukla, 27, all accused of assaulting Shyam Nagar resident surgical equipment businessman Amol Deep Singh, following a complaint and on the basis of evidence and other findings.The IPC sections pressed against the accused included 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 147 (rioting), 148 (guilty of rioting, being armed with a deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly), 504 (punishment for insulting someone intentionally to provoke them) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).After medical report and statement of doctors, charges under section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons) have been added, he said, adding, Police teams have been looking for the accused in Kanpur and neighbouring districts of Fatehpur, Unnao, Kanpur Dehat and Jalaun. We are also in the process of obtaining NBW against all five from court.He said, a public appeal had been made to inform police if anyone had any evidence related to the case. The identity of the informer will be kept secret, he added.Police issued WhatsApp number 7839863036, for anyone to provide videos, photos, etc to police, even anonymously. Amol Deep Bhatia, along with his wife Guneet, were on their way home when his SUV rammed the BJP corporators car near the City Club in Raipurwa police area on September 24 night. Ankit Shukla and his aides allegedly chased Bhatias vehicle and stopped him. A verbal argument ensued and Shukla and his accomplices beat up Bhatia brutally, causing injury to his eyes. Bhatias family alleged the assault caused him to lose vision in one eye while the second eye got 60% damaged.Bhatia was admitted to the Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital here, and was later taken to Delhis Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, where his condition was stated critical.
