Jajmau arson case: 2 accused granted bail

Kanpur: The Allahabad high court has granted conditional bail to accused- corporator Mursaleen Khan alias Bholu and another accused Ejazuddin alias Sablu in the Jajmau arson case.The high court has ordered release of both the accused on furnishing two sureties of the like amount and a personal bond.Arguing on the bail application, the defence counsel submitted that neither there is any concrete evidence in the case against the accused nor has anything been recovered from them. Mursaleen has been in jail since January 24, 2023 while Ejazuddin since November 7, 2022 while the hearing of the case is still in its initial stage, the defence counsel pleaded and submitted before the court that the accused will not misuse bail nor try to influence any witness. Kapoor was booked by the Punjab vigilance bureau for acquiring unaccounted assets. His wife, who was also accused in the case, was granted anticipatory bail. Kapoor argued that he played a key role in curbing corruption and was being falsely implicated due to departmental rivalry and influence of anti-social elements. The court will hear the plea on Tuesday.
