Woman shot dead near police outpost

"As soon as Anisa reached the police outpost, Wasim, his mother and sister also followed and started thrashing her. Wasim fired four shots from a close range," the family alleged in its complaint. Two bullets hit Anisa's neck.She was rushed to the district hospital where she was declared brought dead. "We have launched a probe over the absence of police personnel from out-post. KANPUR: A woman was chased, thrashed and shot , allegedly in front of a police outpost, in Mainpuri district on Monday night.The incident took place at around 8 pm while one Anisa Begum (45), a resident of Agra Gate , had gone to the police outpost to lodge a complaint against Wasim of Lal Imli Gate, following a dispute over a piece of land.At the time of the murder, there was not a single policeman present at the Agra Gate police outpost, the victim's family alleged. "As soon as Anisa reached the police outpost, Wasim, his mother and sister also followed and started thrashing her. They pinned her down. Wasim fired four shots from a close range," the family alleged in its complaint. Two bullets hit Anisa's neck.She was rushed to the district hospital where she was declared brought dead. The locals caught the three accused who tried to take refuge inside the police outpost.SP Sunil Kumar Saxena said a case had been registered and the trio had been sent to jail. "We have launched a probe over the absence of police personnel from out-post. Strict action would be taken against them," Saxena said.
