Kanpur Development Authority issues recovery notice to Mehtab Alam

The high court however gave him one month time to surrender.He once again failed to appear before the trial court and sought more time from the high court which again granted him a further time of three weeks.Meanwhile, additional labour commissioner, Kanpur, also issued notices directing Mehtab Alam to pay compensation to the labourers who had died when the illegal building caved in. Later, a case against him was registered by the KDA.Mehtab's counsel had moved a surrender application in the court of chief metropolitan magistrate but he did not surrender though his counsel had sought several adjournments.In the meantime, Mehtab preferred a writ petition before Allahabad high court, and pleaded the court to quash the FIR registered against him. KANPUR: Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) on Wednesday issued a notice to Samajwadi Party leader Mehtab Alam for the recovery of Rs 2.40 lakhs for demolishing the illegal bridge he had got constructed across the road and for clearing the debris from the site.The notice has given him one-month time for depositing the recovery amount failing which KDA would issue a recovery certificate.According to vice-chairman of KDA Vijeyendra Pandiyan, the amount (Rs 2.40 lakh) had been computed on the basis of demolition expenses, wages of employees and officials who worked at the site and on removing debris.The Samajwadi Party (SP) leader had raised a bridge across the road to connect his two buildings in gross violation of KDA rules and regulations.Mehtab Alam's illegal under-construction building collapsed in February this year resulting in the death of around 10 labourers.
