Congress urges LG s admin to improve health infrastructure

Congress on Monday reviewed the current COVID situation in J&K and the measures being taken by the government to provide timely treatment to COVID-affected patients in hospitals and other quarantine centers. In a statement issued here Congress expressed concern over the deficiency in medical facilities in far-flung areas and laid emphasis over improving health infrastructure across J&K on a war-footing basis to deal with the medical emergencies and the fatal virus. He also reviewed the availability of oxygen bedding capacities ventilators and other medical aid required to deal with the surge in COVID cases. Mir said that though Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha's administration was taking effective measures to arrest the situation there was a need to upgrade the health infrastructure without any delay besides focusing on health infrastructure in far-flung areas which have started witnessing surge in COVID cases. Mir urged GoI to ensure supply of vaccines on a war-footing basis.

The statement said that Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Ghulam Ahmad Mir in a meeting of senior Congress functionaries and district presidents held at Srinagar reviewed the current COVID situation and the facilities available in hospitals for patients. He also reviewed the availability of oxygen bedding capacities ventilators and other medical aid required to deal with the surge in COVID cases. He said that JKPCC has set up control rooms both in Kashmir and Jammu to provide assistance to people especially to COVID patients. Mir said that though Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinhas administration was taking effective measures to arrest the situation there was a need to upgrade the health infrastructure without any delay besides focusing on health infrastructure in far-flung areas which have started witnessing surge in COVID cases. He expressed concern over the shortage of vaccines and questioned the preparedness of the Government of India (GoI) to deal with the second wave of COVID-19. Mir urged GoI to ensure supply of vaccines on a war-footing basis.
