DGP chairs high level security meet

Director General of Police Dilbag Singh Monday chaired a high-level security review meeting at Police headquarters in which he took stock of the security situation and also reviewed J&K Police's response to 2nd wave of COVID-19. A statement of J&K Police issued here said that the DGP while speaking on the occasion directed the officers to augment the security grid to further improve and make safe and secure environment for the citizens. The DGP directed the officers to maintain close surveillance of such elements trying to disrupt the fast-returning peaceful atmosphere and take all measures to neutralise such attempts. The statement said that the senior officers briefed the DGP about the measures put in place for maintaining peace and order and ensuring security of the people. It said that the DGP was also apprised regarding J&K Police's different measure in response to COVID-19.

Singh said that the action against the militants and their associates should continue and all the suspicious elements should be kept under check to foil their designs aimed at disrupting normal lives of the people. Underscoring the need for a proactive role of the law-enforcing agencies the DGP directed the Police officers to put in place effective measures for maintaining peace and order in coordination with other forces. Singh said that J&K Police along with other forces had ensured the rule of law after facing tough challenges and succeeded in maintaining the sense of security among the people. He said that our efforts would continue to strengthen peace in J&K. The DGP said that there was a need of using all technology and related tools to keep a check on the people misusing social media. He directed that a mechanism must be put in place to identity and bring to book all the mischief mongers found using social media for anti-national and anti-social activities. Singh directed the field officers to take effective steps against the drug peddlers so that the menace of drug abuse was eradicated. The DGP directed the officers to maintain close surveillance of such elements trying to disrupt the fast-returning peaceful atmosphere and take all measures to neutralise such attempts. Reviewing the J&K Police response to the second wave of COVID-19 he stressed for implementing the government directives and advisories besides assisting the administration to contain the spread of COVID-19. Singh said that they were in a critical phase and every possible effort was required to come out of it. The J&K Police statement said that the meeting was attended by Special DG CID R R Swain ADGP Headquarters M K Sinha IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar IGP Headquarters GaribDass DIG Central Kashmir Amit Kumar DIG SKR Abdul Jabbar DIG NKR SujitKAmar AIG (P&T) Rajinder Gupta and SSP Srinagar Sandeep Choudhary. The statement said that the senior officers briefed the DGP about the measures put in place for maintaining peace and order and ensuring security of the people. It said that the DGP was also apprised regarding J&K Polices different measure in response to COVID-19.
