Ganderbal reports over 100 daily COVID 19 positive cases

Ganderbal district is recording over 100 positive cases of COVID-19 on a daily basis since past week with mild to severe patients being admitted in the COVID-designated District Hospital Ganderbal. On Monday Ganderbal reported less than 100 cases after a week. As per the official figures available the number of daily positive cases of COVID-19 in district has shown an upward trend with over 100 cases being reported per day. Officials said that there are 1168 active cases of COVID-19 in the district of which 60 COVID-19 patients are admitted in the COVID-designated District Hospital Ganderbal. Most of these patients are put on oxygen support” an official at District Hospital Ganderbal said.

However patients recovering from COVID-19 has also seen an encouraging number. Officials said that there are 1168 active cases of COVID-19 in the district of which 60 COVID-19 patients are admitted in the COVID-designated District Hospital Ganderbal. “We have 60 patients admitted in COVID hospital as of today including one gyane patient. Most of these patients are put on oxygen support” an official at District Hospital Ganderbal said. Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal KrittikaJyotsna said that the positivity rate had declined from 11.4 percent to 8 percent in the district during the past week. About the status of testing in the district she said that over 9500 test were done in this week and that the trajectory of positivity rate showed decline in the district. Elaborating on the status of vaccination campaign in the district the DC said that 99 percent of vaccination above 45 years of age was completed and appealed the people over 45 years who had not vaccinated yet to get vaccinated at the earliest adding that sufficient doses of vaccination were available in the district. Regarding corona curfew Jyotsna said that it stands extended till May 31 and complimented the general public for adhering to COVID SOPs and guidelines as ordered in the district. She said that this had proved instrumental in bringing down the positivity rate in the district. She said that one check post had been installed at Sonamarg and till date 1950 persons were screened and 246 tested for COVID-19 of which four tested positive and were sent to home isolation. Regarding the Micro Containment Strategy the DC said that 15 new micro containment zones were added this week to break further spread of virus thus taking micro containment zones to 454 in the district.
