Robotics, artificial intelligence in PG syllabus

The varsity had carried out syllabus and curriculum revision for its undergraduate courses in the academic year 2017-18. The syllabus revision will also take into account the research possibilities that students could undertake after postgraduation,” he said. The varsity has decided to revise the syllabus and curriculum from the next academic year by including innovative content, which is aimed at ensuring better job opportunities for students. Some of the niche subjects that will find place in the new syllabus include robotics, artificial intelligence, and automation. “We also plan to frame the syllabus in a way that will help postgraduate students equip themselves to face tests such as National Eligibility Test and State Eligibility Test. The new curriculum will also focus on areas that widen the job prospects of students,” said R. Pragash, MGU Syndicate member. The revision of syllabus for postgraduate programmes was previously carried out in 2012. Mr. Pragash said that the massive exercise had begun with a meeting of the heads of various boards of studies. Rich content “We want to come up with diverse and rich content this time. The idea is to map the emerging changes and developments in various fields. The syllabus revision will also take into account the research possibilities that students could undertake after postgraduation,” he said. The decision to include content that helps students prepare better for national- and State-level eligibility tests for teaching and research is based on the inference that most students join coaching programmes after completion of courses. Topics like robotics and artificial intelligence have a lot of relevance now. The varsity hopes that the course content in niche technology areas will encourage students to take up further research. The varsity had carried out syllabus and curriculum revision for its undergraduate courses in the academic year 2017-18. The first year examinations were held on the basis of the revised syllabus.
